A SLIP-ON SUMMER

After the bikers a few years ago and the flats back strongly in vogue last year this spring is the tourn of the slip-ons. Natural descendants from the loafer they become a big  success in America thanks to Vans.

The history of Vans began in the 60s with the brothers Jim and Paul Van Doren. The Van Doren were sesasoned of the shoe industry and in the ’76, in the middle of the in the middle of the second wave of popularity of skateboarding, they decided to focus their marketing on skaters. The advertising campaign to introduce the Vans skateboarding in the market was led by the most important skaters of the moment, Tony Alva e Stacy Peralta, and in a short time the shoes of the two brothers became a must have in the United States.

In the decades following this type of shoes, characterized by a high and soft sole, the tapered shape and rounded end, reached the lovers of casual and street look, until being revived today by the leading fashion houses.

 

The classic model of these shoes has been actualized mainly through an accurated research on new textures and new performing materials. This throwback of patterns is something really hip today that involves fashion as well as design.

Dopo i bikers di qualche anno fa e le ballerine tornate prepotentemente dall’anno scorso questa primavera toccherà alle slip-on.


Naturali derivate dal mocassino hanno spopolato in America grazie a Vans. La storia della Vans inizia negli anni ’60 con i fratelli Jim e Paul Van Doren. I Van Doren erano dei veterani della shoeindustry ma nel ’76, nel bel mezzo della seconda ondata di popolarità dello skateboard, decisero di focalizzare il loro marketing sugli skaters dal momento che la ditta aveva già acquisito un grande successo fra i surfers. La campagna pubblicitaria per introdurre la Vans nel mercato dello skateboarding fu capitanata dai più importanti skaters del momento(Tony Alva e StacyPeralta) e nel giro di poco tempo le scarpe dei due fratelli diventarono un must have negli Stati Uniti.


Nei decenni successivi questo tipo di scarpa, caratterizzato da una suola un po’ alta, la forma affusolata e la punta arrotondata, ha raggiunto gli amanti dei look più street e casual fino ad essere riproposta oggi dalle più importanti case di moda.


Il modello "classico" di queste scarpe è stato riattualizzato attraverso un lavoro soprattutto incentrato sulla ricerca di nuove texture e nuovi materiali. Questo ritorno a gran voce dei pattern è un fenomeno di punta che coinvolge sia la moda che il design attuali.
