If you have never been to Helsinki, but you like freezing weather and good design, you must visit the old docks in Katajanokka district. Old Customs Warehouse is a 19th century building which has not been previously opened to the public and now hosts the main event of Helsinki Design Week.

Today we had a very interesting tour of these exclusive spaces situated near Helsinki city center.

On the ground floor there is the Finnish Design Shop, where you can buy many top designer products or have a quick drink. In front of the bar an amusing and playful installation, like a fil-rouge which runs from the front to the core of the re-born building.

Located on the first floor of the Warehouse, Above is an exhibition curated by Kari Korkman, the founder and director of HDW.

This is a high profile exhibition featuring top international designers and brands of interior design. Products are placed in dark spaces to create a unique contrast between old and modern style.
