Let's drop in at the DOCK to open the London Design Festival 2012. The DOCK KITCHEN in Ladbroke Road is a very inviting coffee restaurant-concept store, hosting the exhibition of the well known designer TOM DIXON.

Along with Tom Dixon's pieces, we had the chance to meet new products and ideas from young, emerging designers sharing a common thread: experimental approach.
So we met TIKAU, with its carpets and cushions ad fabrics: a finnish brand combining Scandinavian design and Indian handicraft traditions with the vision of employing and empowering the artisans of rural India. The word " Tikau" comes from Hindi and stands for sustainable and durable.
Taina Snellma from TIKAU explaining us the work ethic behind the brand.
Then we met NAOMI PAUL with her giant knitted lamps.

Next one the project "The Back Room", focusing on the emerging social phenomenon of small collectives applying their own skills within the urban city to produce, make, manufacture and sell direct.

Just crossing the bridge behind DOCK KiTCHEN, we arrived to another exhibition, held by the cutting-edge Dutch brand MOOOI and SENSO.
Here we found slick designs produced by practised designers, anyway fresh and original.
And tomorrow 100% design: when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
