Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up at the Stedelijk. 25 years of design

From 1st February to 15th June 2014, the newly renovated Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam will host the exhibition “Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up at the Stedelijk, 25 years of design”, a retrospective on the life and career of the famous Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, known for his product, furniture, interior design and original art direction.

With more than 400+ objects on display, Stedelijk Museum will present his entire oeuvre from the late 1980s to today, which includes furniture, lamps, utensils, cutlery, wallpaper, packaging and jewellery. Also on display will be the images of interiors, design sketches, prototypes, experimental work in small editions, sculptural objects developed for special projects, and “virtual interiors”: new experimental digital creations.

Marcel Wanders made his international breakthrough in 1996 with the Knotted Chair, and thereafter was associated to the conceptual movement of Dutch Design through the Droog Design platform. However once he hit the wider design industry he became an international selling designer.

His collaborations range from Alessi, Moroso, Kartell, Flos, Puma, Baccarat, Marks & Spencer, KLM and more, as well as being a co-founder and art director of Moooi.

Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up at the Stedelijk, 25 years of design is open to visitors from the 1st February until 15th June 2014 at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
